Meet Alice
My name is Alice, and I’m excited to work with students and families through Engaged Minds! I bring more than 10 years of education experience, including seven years teaching third grade in Chapel Hill and several years coaching and supporting reading and math tutors across North Carolina. I’m passionate about helping students strengthen their academic skills, build confidence, and develop a love of learning.
I believe student success begins with the confidence and courage to try new things and the understanding that mistakes are opportunities for reflection and growth. I strive to create a warm, supportive learning environment where every student feels capable of learning and is celebrated for their effort, perseverance, and achievements, both big and small. I believe in building positive relationships, recognizing each child’s strengths, and tailoring instruction to meet their individual needs.
I graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in elementary education and a minor in Hispanic Studies. Originally from Asheville, North Carolina, I now live in Durham with my husband and our dog. Outside of education, I enjoy spending time outdoors, reading, cooking, and traveling. I look forward to working together to support your child’s growth and celebrating their progress along the way!
