Meet Hannah

Hello! My name is Hannah McKinney, and I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at North Carolina State University. I have several years of experience providing academic support to students across a wide range of ages and learning needs, and I hold a North Carolina teaching license in Language Arts for grades 6–9.

My professional experience includes teaching 8th-grade English for over two years, where I helped students strengthen their reading comprehension and writing skills. I also completed an internship focused on early literacy development, working with kindergarten students to support foundational reading skills.

Currently, I serve as an Academic Mentor for student-athletes at North Carolina State University, where I help students build strong study habits, stay organized, and develop academic confidence. My diverse educational background and graduate training in counseling allow me to adapt my teaching approach to each student’s unique needs while creating a supportive learning environment.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my two cats, Watson and Poe, learning new skills that incorporate my love of the outdoors (cycling is my current focus!), and reading.
