Meet Joseph

Hello! My name is Joseph Glenn. Since completing the Masters in Teaching in Elementary and Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (Go Heels!) in 2019, I have been a special education teacher. Before that, I found my love for teaching with several years as a special education teacher assistant. During my time in the classroom, I have primarily worked with the Extended Content Standards. Prior to the classroom, I also worked at a group home for individuals with autism and served as Sport Director for the Eastern half of the state for Special Olympics North Carolina.

I enjoy working with diverse learners as I enjoy the small group approach. I have a great deal of patience, and having a small group or one-on-one really allows me to get to know a student so I can prepare a lesson in a way that will work best for them.

I try to make learning fun, whether that be working based on the interests of a child or as simple as my silly sense of humor. It allows students to see another side of me and hopefully have fun while we are learning together, as I learn more about what works best for the student every time we meet. I've found that my silly side helps engage students at the elementary level. I also have a Master of Arts in Leisure Studies from the University of Iowa, which I think makes me pretty fun.
