Meet Kathleen

With more than 21 years of experience in education, I am passionate about helping every student reach their full potential. Originally from Long Island, New York, I now live in the Raleigh area with my two daughters, ages 12 and 16.

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and a Master's degree in School Administration. I am a National Board Certified Exceptional Needs Specialist and am licensed in K–12 Special Education, Elementary Education, Middle Grades Mathematics, and Middle Grades English Language Arts (Grades 6–9).

Throughout my career, I have worked with students from kindergarten through high school in a variety of settings, including specialized learning classrooms, autism programs, behavior support programs, and general education environments. My experience includes supporting students in executive functioning, reading, writing, and mathematics while creating individualized learning plans that build confidence and foster success.

I have specialized training in evidence-based reading instruction, including the Sonday System and REWARDS (Grades 4–12), and I have consistently pursued professional development to deepen my understanding of the science of reading and effective literacy instruction.

My teaching philosophy is simple: every student deserves to be seen, heard, and taught in the way that works best for them. Strong relationships, flexibility, and individualized support are at the heart of my approach. I believe learning happens best when students feel understood, encouraged, and empowered to take risks in a supportive environment.
