Meet Amber
Hi! My name is Amber Reid, and I'm an elementary and middle school educator with 11 years of experience both teaching and tutoring. My time in education includes roles as a K–8 exceptional children teacher, a 1st grade teacher, a school-based instructional coach, and a math coach supporting districts across North Carolina. These roles have allowed me to mentor teachers, support district initiatives, and strengthen student learning.
My teaching philosophy is simple: I believe that all children are capable of greatness, but the path to achieving it looks different for everyone. Given the proper support and tools, all students can reach their goals. My mission is to foster not only academic success but also a love of learning that carries into every area of life.
As a former special educator, I've worked closely with a variety of diverse learners and their families, partnering with them to find the best strategies for each individual student. I specialize in supporting students with elementary reading and math, as well as middle school math.
I am originally from Portland, Oregon, but I have lived in North Carolina for the past eight years. I attended Pacific University for my undergraduate education, earning a double major in education and sociology. In 2016, I received my Master of Science in Education from Johns Hopkins University.
In my free time, I enjoy hiking, traveling, reading, and spending time with my husband and our two dogs.
I look forward to working with you and your child!
