Meet Dasia
Hi, I’m Dasia. I am an educator with a strong background in elementary and special education, child development, and early literacy. I believe that all students are capable of growth when they are given the right tools, clear instruction, and consistent support, and I am passionate about helping children build both academic skills and confidence in themselves as learners.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and my Master of Arts in Teaching in Special and Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I also have a background in child development research, which has shaped the way I approach learning and development. My instructional approach is grounded in the Science of Reading, and I am LETRS trained, with a strong focus on evidence-based practices that support phonics, decoding, fluency, and comprehension.
I have experience teaching in public elementary schools and working with a wide range of learners, including students with diverse learning needs. I strive to create learning experiences that are clear, engaging, and intentional, and I work to make learning feel approachable rather than overwhelming. I value strong relationships with both students and families and believe collaboration is key to student success.
I am originally from Durham, North Carolina, and love being part of the local community. In my free time, I enjoy traveling, spending time with family and friends, and hanging out with my dog, Ember. I look forward to supporting your child’s learning journey.
